X Infotech eID issuance solution for Sierra Leone

X Infotech delivered a completely new personalization solution for national and non-national eID and Ecowas card issuance for the people of Sierra Leone, supporting all the latest requirements and industry standards. The second part of the delivered system is the Public Key Infrastructure solution. It allows to issue new identification card types for citizens and guests of Sierra Leone. It also provides a base for the future digitalization path of the country.

Solution

  • Personalization solutions including Production and Stock management, integration with IXLA personalization machines. Wide range of Public Key Infrastructure components including Country Signing Certification Authority (CSCA), Document Signer (DS), Country Verifying Certification Authority (CVCA), and Document Verifier (DV).

Challenges

  • Build a reliable Public key infrastructure for the digital signing of sensitive biometric data for cardholders in compliance with ICAO recommendations. Full compliance with Ecowas requirements.

Results

  • The new ID cards significantly improve the security and privacy of personal data by securely storing document holders’ information electronically. Citizens and visitors of Sierra Leone are able to receive new ID cards to use in the country and travel across Ecowas countries. The implemented solution provides a ready base for future improvement possibilities and functionality extension.
